What Courses are Required for a Florida Real Estate License?

The education requirements for a real estate license in some states can be confusing with numerous courses and different options based on past experience. In Florida, it’s a lot more simple.

There is only one course required to get a Florida real estate license. You just need to complete the Florida Pre-License Real Estate Course.

The purpose of the Florida Pre-License Course is to teach you the real estate principles and practices you’ll use every day as a real estate agent. But before you can get your Florida real estate license, your knowledge of these topics will be tested on the licensing exam.

Taking the required real estate course is one of the early steps in the licensing process. The only requirement prior to taking the course is having a high school diploma or GED. Once you’ve completed the course you can then submit an application for a sales associate license and take the state real estate exam.

4. Real Estate Brokerage Activities and Procedures - 5 hours over 6 chapters
5. Violations of License Law, Penalties, and Procedures - 2 hours over 4 chapters
6. Federal and State Laws Pertaining to Real Estate - 4 hours over 7 chapters
7. Property Rights: Estates and Tenancies; Condominiums, Co-operatives, Community Development Districts, Homeowner Associations, and Time-Sharing - 5 hours over 6 chapters
8. Title, Deeds, and Ownership Restrictions - 4 hours over 10 chapters

You’ll get pop quiz questions throughout each chapter to make sure you’re understanding the material and help cement the concepts. You’ll also get a test at the end of each level. These tests give you a chance to review any of the concepts that didn’t fully click the first time around. To move on to the next level, you must pass each test with a score of 85% or higher.

At the end of the course, you’ll have a final exam. This final exam is designed to mimic the Florida real estate exam, covering material from the entire course. To pass the course, you’ll need to score at least 70% on this 100-question exam. If you don’t pass the exam on your first try, you’ll be given 30 days to study before retaking the exam.

Once you complete your 63-hour Florida Pre-License Course, you’ll be ready to take your Florida real estate exam and launch your new career as a Florida real estate agent!
