Suppose you need to look up the status of your North Carolina real estate license or check the status of another real estate professional’s license. In that case, you can do so quickly and easily, thanks to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC)’s website.
Here’s how to find your license information (or the information for other licensees) online:
Go to the NCREC Online DatabaseNcrec Oecgi3.exe O4W_LIC_SEARCH_NEW License.ncrec.gov. You don't need to create an account or log in. Anyone can search the records at any time.
Use the “search by” fields to find the license you’re looking for. You can search by name, license number, or location.
Review the search results to find the licensee you were looking for.
That’s all there is to it!
If you want to review your license information and status and make changes, you can go to the NCREC websiteNcrecapp Account Logon?ReturnUrl=%2Fncrecapp Eservices.ncrec.gov and log in to your record using your PIN. Unless you have changed it, this is set as the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
If your basic contact information (i.e., email address, home address, phone number) has changed or is incorrect, you can update these online by logging into your record on the NCREC website. For corrections or updates to your name or firm affiliation, you will need to submit a form to NCREC.
You must submit Form 1.22, Request BROKER Name Change, and Request To Replace BROKER License/Pocket CardNamechange if your name has changed.
To terminate your affiliation with a firm or sole proprietorship, submit Form 2.22, Request to Terminate Your Affiliation with a Firm or Sole ProprietorshipTerminateAffiliation.
If your affiliation has changed and you are a provisional broker, your BIC must submit Form 2.08, License Activation and Broker AffiliationLicenseeactivationLicenseeactivation. If you are a full broker, your BIC or you may submit Form 2.08.
Real estate licensees in North Carolina must renew their licenses every year. If you let your license expire, the requirements to reinstate it will depend on how long it expires.
License expired for less than 6 months:
Go to the NCREC homepage.
Click “Reinstate Your License”
Log in using your license number and PIN (last 4 of your SSN unless you have changed it)
Answer the required questions
Pay a $90 reinstatement fee
A License Activation / Affiliation form (REC 2.08)LicenseeactivationLicenseeactivation must also be submitted to regain an active license status.
License expired for 6 months but no more than 2 years:
Option 1:
Complete a 30-hour post-licensing course within 6 months of submitting the reinstatement application.
Submit the reinstatement application, a $90 application fee, and all required documents, including a criminal background check.
Option 2:
Submit the reinstatement application, a $90 application fee, and all required documents, including a criminal background check.
Pass the National and State sections of the licensing exam.
License expired for more than 2 years:
If your license has expired for more than two years, you must essentially start the pre-licensing process over. This process includes completing an approved 75-hour pre-licensing courseNorth Carolina Real Estate License, submitting the application, and passing the National and State sections of the licensing exam.
